{"id":12390,"date":"2010-04-11T20:30:29","date_gmt":"2010-04-11T20:30:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wordswarm.net\/dictionary\/funambulist.html"},"modified":"2010-04-11T20:30:29","modified_gmt":"2010-04-11T20:30:29","slug":"funambulist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wsbj.com\/sorabji\/2010\/04\/11\/funambulist.html","title":{"rendered":"Funambulist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<span class=\"width\"><font face=\"arial,helvetica\">A rope walker or dancer.<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\nIn alternating 20-minute segments I watched two movies which oddly complemented each other.&nbsp; Both were documentaries. &#8220;Man on Wire&#8221; chronicled Philippe Petit&#8217;s journey to the top of the Twin Towers in 1974 while &#8220;The Bridge&#8221; captured video and background stories of the numerous people who commit suicide jumping from San Francisco&#8217;s Golden Gate Bridge. In both films the protagonists aim to reach great heights but the relationship between these individuals and their chosen perils is different.
