All these decades on and he&#8217;s still doing the same thing? Boring? Who wants only to do one thing with their life?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p> And it reminded me of how the question &#8220;What was your major in college?&#8221; is usually just a set-up for the punchline of what you&#8217;re doing now with that expensive 4-year degree.<\/p>\n<p> it reminded me again of that singularity of purpose that is common among the people I&#8217;ve known. Someone who talks to me after many years finds I am doing things entirely different from when last we met and the assumption is that I have lost my way. Am I different in that my mind opens up to someone who changes their direction &#8212; that is if they could even be said to have had &#8220;direction&#8221; in the first place.
