\t\t\t\ti sat on Steinway Street and looked everything over one last time. a
\npre-paid return FedEx envelope was included, into which all i had to do
\nwas put the papers and utilize the adhesive properties of a sealant-type
\nsurface to close the container, assuring for posterity and all times that
\nnothing slipped out of the plastic container in transit. (In Transit.

as i entered the FedEx office I held my right hand straight to my right
\ntemple, as close to a military salute as a non-military schlub like i
\ncould muster. this, i imagine, was the last gesture my father made before
\nkilling himself in the building that i just sold.<\/p>\n
end of it all is at hand. finally got an offer on dad’s old place. it
\namounts to breaking even, with virtually no profit whatsoever, but i’ll
\ntake it in exchange for knowing that the buyers appear to take the
\nproperty seriously and will fix it up better than i could. “better than i
\ncould” simply meaning that they are there. i am here, over 1000 miles
\naway, unable to fully manage things like a new roof and ohter maintenance
\nneeds. if i have any sense of chagrin it’s that dad claimed at one point
\nthe place was worth about about 400% more than the price at which it sold.
\na paid appraiser claimed the place was worth more than double the price at
\nwhich it sold. the reality is that, on paper, to even a casual observer,
\nthe place is worth what it sold for. that ain’t much, and i don’t mind.<\/p>\n
today was running around, having things notarized and witnessed, going
\nhere and there, to-ing and fro-ing. FedEx claimed i would have the papers
\nby 8am, 10am by the latest, but as usual FedEx brought it home far later
\nthan that. i shouldn’t be surprised or concerned but that i guess i
\nactually paid for this Priority Overnight fabrication.<\/p>\n
now it is time to think about my future.<\/p>\n
