\t\t\t\ti am typing blind, or close to it. i got home last night and was surprised to find a voicemail reminding me that i had an appointment with the retinal surgeon specialist today at 2:15. whoops. i thought this appt was for next friday. all good, but i had to cancel dinner plans, which is no biggie, as my hot date is not feeling so hot anyway. we’ll go next week to the highly esteemed steakhouse on 58th street.<\/p>\n
the visit went quickly enough, but the dilation of the pupils and the drops and the other inconveniences of eyeballery are no fun.<\/p>\n
i don’t really think about that stuff too much these days, though. it’s just there, a dangeling dongle of doom, like so many other things.<\/p>\n
the blindness doesn’t seem to be as bad this time. last time i think it lasted for hours and hours, now it seems to be fading after just 3 hours. they didn’t use the metal spoons and needles this time, so maybe that’s the difference.<\/p>\n
who cares.<\/p>\n

the concert last night was sincere, and memorable. still thinking about it. strange to see a Tampa coalition in New York. had the concert been in Tampa while I was growing up there, I would certainly have not attended. but the novelty factor was partly motivational, as was the nostalgia. Bob was a pretty cool guy. it’s interesting to read program notes which quote the artist, and see obscenities and real-world vitriol. you won’t find much of that vernacular in a Van Cliburn Playbill.<\/p>\n
