Nothing. by now i am too tired and bored with this Windows failure to squander any more hours on it. i salvaged the few documents i needed, and will now plan to waste a week or two purchasing and configuring another $2000 piece of shit. that’s the way with technology, you pays your money and you takes your chances.

…..

a hearty wander today down to 39th avenue and vernon boulevard. the last time i rambled down there was after a monster snow blast either late last year or early this year. that time the city managed to plow the fucking roads, unlike previous incidents… no snow now, just lots of cool cars parked by the auto body shops and the silence of the empty streets on this holiday day. i’ve been noticing interesting cars of late. Rolls Royces, antique Volkswagens, 70s Camarii. i never used to care about cars but i can appreciate the work that goes into a beautifully maintained 1950s era Chevrolet.

…..

i bought a 16gb flash drive for $19.99 today. i remember the first IBM Microdrive I got. 1gb for something like $240. technology seems never to be a good long term investment of money or time. it all goes into the landfill eventually, the physical and time horizon landfill. this 16gb gadget might be used as a portable workstation kind of thing, a plug and play suite of office and internet apps that run from the flash drive without touching the host PC’s OS, and with a variety of apps that synchronize with remote storage locations. i don’t know why on earth i would need something like that but it seemed clever at the time.

i should be more worried about backing up the weeks worth of scans of the old magazines, to a remote location, off site, minimizing points of failure.

…..

THERE IS A FOIL IN GRAVITY’S BULLION, A WRAPPER OF REGRET VIOLATED BY THE SEXUAL NINTANDRE OF 1980s ARCADE VIDEO GAMES AND PINBALL MACHINES WHENCE EDISON’S MOTION PICTURE MACHINE IS STILL USED FOR REPUBLICAN PORNOGRAPHY AND IMPRISONED POLITICAL HUNKS OF LIVING BALONEY.
