I found this depressingly inspiring note at the North Burial Ground in Providence, Rhode Island<\/a>, in March, 2013. It’s sad as hell but the mother’s enthusiasm in keeping the boy alive, if only in memory, is beautiful. I love how she dots her Is. They look like sparklers. The North Burial Ground was, as I recall a mix of very old and very recent. The oldest sections echoed with the silence of being forgotten. The newer ones, such as where I found this note, resounded with the energy of memory. At first I thought the image was of the actual child that had died but it looks like a stock photo from Hallmark. The text matter printed on the first photo is continued from the second photo, which shows the front of the card.<\/p>\n
