I’m not going to obsess over this but I can’t decide on the gender of this letter’s author. It is signed “DADDY”, or is it? Maybe “DADDY” is a salutation, or a nickname for the recipient. The author says “I’m never taking your last name”, which by default I would interpret as reference to a woman taking a man’s last name upon marriage, unless here it means that the writer is a man promising not to take away<\/em> this woman’s last name should they wed.<\/p>\n

The English is disjointed and off. The sentence about taking the last name\u00a0 ends with “you can forget that tho dead ass.” Hmmm…? The author refers to themself as “the bad guy” but that term can be used generically, or gender neutral, as with expressions like “odd man out”, a phrase I have heard women refer to themself as.<\/p>\n

A reference to the recipient of this letter having kids evokes, to me at least, a woman, but it’s entirely possible my assumptions about gender have not met up with modern times. If that says “Ms. Emotional” is that a reference to the author or recipient? Or is that even what it’s meant to say?<\/p>\n

Final verdict, based perhaps on internal biases and assumptions, is that it’s from a man to a woman. End of my focus on this important matter.<\/p>\n

I found this on a sidewalk a few weeks ago. Dated November of last year it seems someone had carried it around for a long time before accidentally dropping it or deliberately letting it go.<\/p>\n
