I don’t hate hearing of it, but it is predictable to hear grousing of one’s morning commute gone wrong. To me it rarely amounts to a problem, since I get to work so early. But it does send me on an unpredictable and at times unpleasant journey through parts known but chaotically unfamiliar in the morning grog and confusion. I ended up making a transfer from an R running on the M line to a 6 at 53rd Street\/Lexington, and it so turned out that I could not have been farther from the 6 when exiting the R running on the M. Escalators didn’t work, the elevator might have but I didn’t think there’d be time for that. My bag has become heavier than ever since I added a thermos full of coffee every day. Normally the weight doesn’t bother me because I don’t have to carry it all that far but man, today was like hiking up a mountain with all this baggage. Yeah, I know. Poor me, having a job to go to. Things did start to get nasty as I escaped up the one working escalator at 53rd\/Lexington. I don’t know what went on but people were fucking screaming at each other, I think including MTA workers in the melee. Oh and making matters more bewildering for me was how I thought I had added 7 days to my MetroCard using the Commuter Benefits Card but I guess I was wrong. Nothing was added and I seem to have pulled the wrong receipt from the machine because the transaction recorded thereon makes no sense in reflecting anything I would have done. I walked from 36th Ave to Queens Plaza, which seems like it should be such an epic trek but I think I was there in 10 minutes or less. Everything was fucked up with regard to getting from Astoria to Midtown. Train on fire at Lexington\/59th, with N\/W severely delayed and the R rerouted over the M line, which the announcer repeatedly misidentified as the N line. Sometimes you just have to know what they meant to say. Yeah, this is a great read, isn’t it… <\/p>\n\n\n\n
