I hadn’t even thought of that. It makes me feel cold at first, exacerbated by how I always take it while sitting naked in the shower, which can be rather cold. I sit for about half an hour, usually, and when the warm water pours over me I feel tremendous sensual relief. The heat gets into my bones and broth.

Someone here wants to talk and I do not feel like talking. They’re lamenting a perceived personal affront at this workplace and I have no patience for that kind of shit. Nothing that happens here comes home with me and others should consider following suit.

The R went over the F line this morning, same as last week. It passed through Roosevelt Island, where I once again looked for the payphone that used to be there but has been gone for a few years already. I keep looking for it. On the walk to the R train I realized lately that I make mental notes of places where the payphones used to be. There were 3, then 2, then none at what is now iKraveit, formerly Salamis. There was one at the corner of what is now Lukoil, formerly Getty. There was a Verizon enclosure at 31st Street and 34th Avenue on the opposite corner from where I walk to the subway. That was the only non-clamshell on the Avenue, but it had no advertising because display advertising was prohibited on payphones in residential areas. There were two outside what is now a laundromat, formerly a very sketchy and empty-shelved bodega. The coolers never worked and they’d act irate if you asked them for a cold beverage. Two smears on the sidewalk are the remaining vestiges of those payphones. The next block up, at Gallito’s, there is both a concrete smear and a surviving PHONE sign that signaled the presence of a payphone. I have a few pictures of people using that one. At the St. James Deli there is a concrete rectangle to remind us that payphones once reigned on seemingly every corner. The communication deadzone begins at the Kaufman Astoria lot, where an expansive patch of sidewalk never had a phone, nor did any place across the street. Foggy memory places as payphone in what used to be a vacant lot where the new STUDIO O is. believe that was it for 34th Avenue until just past Steinway Street, where there was one clamshell on the NW corner and 2 Telebeams on the NE corner. That ends my morning journey through memories of payphones past. Most of them left some vestige in their wake. Someone told me this mental machination is like a form of Tourettes.

I suspect my new feeling of calmness and decentness comes from the extra 30mg of the BP med.
