Both mental and physical health in question. Nothing I need or want to do with a spare day. Weekend commute is getting tedious and tiresome. Trains appear on schedule on the MTA app. Such as the fabled 5:48 N train. A number of times now I have taken the word of the MTA app that a scheduled 5:48am train will arrive. I leave around 5:30, and by the time I get to the station everything on the app has changed. No 5:48 train, and I get to wait 20 fucking minutes with only the hope that the 6:something train is not another ghost train. Lately my routine of getting here a half hour early has been impossible. I’m reminded how this place puts the fear of fuck into you for what awful shit will happen if you are so much as one second late. I know of people who got $50 Uber rides from when the subways were messed up, with no possibility of reimbursement, just to avoid being late. I don’t even know what happens when you’re late. Certainly there is torture and dismemberment. People here are chit-chatting. Chatting. Little to talk about yet some people cannot stop. One woman’s voice is like a never-ending river, unmelodiously trickling along with a steady koan of inevitability. Just heard several people agree that this is a terrible place to work. I’ve not heard such sentiments until recently. Last week a person who’s been here something like 15 years had nothing but complaints about this place. Virtually everyone knows we are underpaid but some are fine with it on account of subsidized housing of some sort. 39-year old woman still lives with her parents, pays no rent. Lots of NYCHA peeps, whre you pay something like 30% of your income. Now people are going over scenarios in which we would be ordered to keep working. Fire. Earthquake. No communciation. Looking at job postings but only with skepticism. No one is really hiring. I’m job hugging. But truth be told I mostly like it here, save for the lack of a living wage. I do not usually partake of the chitchat here. There are dividers everywhere and my hearing is not good on anxiety days. Yesterday I had to ask someone to repeat themselves 3 times, the tinnitus and anxiety were that much of a obstruction. Dude is talking about a nightmare in which a barber messed up his haircut and he started to murder the barber then woke up. I have nightmares but generally do not remember them. I think I am going to get some carpal-tunnel by scrolling Cyclomedia in search of new-to-me payphones. That’s a task. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Debating if I want to call out sick tomorrow. Both mental and physical health in question.
