My place of peace and joy had become a bit of a hassle. An inconvenience. Drain stopped up and no amount of Drano can open it. But then, today, it seemed like something lifted. It was a confusing event, today’s shower\/bath. But who needs such details. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yesterday I walked up to that part of Astoria that isn’t really Astoria. It’s East Elmhurst, even as Astoria Boulevard is the main thoroughfare, and Ditmars lurks as well. It is a rugged area compared to neighboring climes. I had no good reason to be there, just to walk. The Q19 bus, on its revised route, was (as advertised) quite a bit quicker getting back from 70-something street to 31st Street. Buses will skip 5 or 6 streets now, versus the previous 2 or 3. It was quite speedy, and only disarming for the fact that I expected it to be tedious and stop-start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is Friday, my Monday. After this 4-day spell I have 12 days off, using holiday comp time from holidays I did not even work. I never knew this until recently but we get comp time for holidays even when we don’t work those days. It’s just a fairness thing, I guess. So I’m double-dipping, or something like it, taking 4 days off using comp time from days I didn’t even work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apparently a monster storm is comiong to annihilate us all. Starting tomorrow night into Sunday we could get 3 inches, or we could get 12 inches of snow. Getting around in that weather has never really been a problem for me, so long as the destination is simple. What I expect will happen here is that I will be the only one to show up. Many of these peeps here take any kind of weather condition as license to stay home, and the company has this obnoxious way of letting them do it as\u00a0 if some kind of reward, while those of us who do show up on gnarly weather days get nothing excapt a curt “thanks.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I took 2 anxiety meds today. Or rather 2MG. I usually split a 2MG pill in half and take 1MG. Taking 2 usually backfires, but the morning tub drama was enough to shake my nerves for the rest of the morning, so I took action. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am trying to improve my outloo about this dead-end job by enjoying the company of those I work with. It’s not easy. I really can’t relate to anybody here. The one guy I got along with best now works remotely while he deals with chemo treatment. I’ve become a little too aware of the woman who is 73 and bottomlessly angry and snarling at anyone who crosses her path.
