Yesterday the boss said I am an “asset” to this operation. A positive comment, I suppose, save for the fact that I feel nothing like an asset, more of an albatross. I took this job knowing it was “entry-level” with the naive belief that meant it was a beginning. In fact it is not. It is the bottom, where I would likely stay forever if circumstances developed as such.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Having not worked this kind of job for a long time I find it satisfying to see that I never lost my desire to work, or my ability. Combined with shades of congenital laziness I couch my weaknesses into finding efficiencies. It’s the old saw, improperly attributed to many people, that one would hire a lazy person to do a difficult job because they will find the easiest way to get it done. I’m not that kind of lazy. But I can play games with time and temperments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sitting here with tinnitus blaring in my head but otherwise feeling peaceful and rested. I woke about 3:30 and showered after reading some headlines and watching some new porn. These meetings would break out into 1-on-1 discussions between writers and actors seeking to re-create pornography as a bewildering artform more intoxicating than the stiffest vodka. Stiff. Get it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Yeah, it’s too coarse and adolescent at this stage in my illustrious career of life but back in my early days of corporata all I thought about was sex.
