It sits on the side of a building facing the Long Island Railroad Station in Woodside, Queens: ILlinois 8-6600<\/a><\/strong>, which in today’s 10-digit format would be 718-458-6600<\/strong>. This number, once associated with Alcor Realty in Woodside, is today disconnected, and Alcol Realty appears to be defunct. Amusingly, a web search for that company name asked “Did you mean ‘Alcohol Realty<\/em>‘?” Sorry, Charlie, I really did mean Alcol.<\/p>\n

The only other ILlinois number I’ve seen in these parts is the somewhat mysterious-looking ILinois 7-1122<\/a><\/strong>, hovering over Queens Boulevard with, to the casual observer, no obvious explanation or connection. That number is associated with Party Time<\/a><\/strong>, a division of the Academy Chair Renting Company at 82-33 Queens Boulevard. In modern parlance Party Time’s number is 718-457-1122<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n
