It’s me, calling from a Grand Central payphone, talking about how the activist group wants me to align with them but I’m not so sure. I have a lot else to say about this in other places but suffice to say I did not make it to the Thursday meeting. This time it was because I am too much of a nightowl to make it to the far west side at 10am, but that I don’t expect them to adjust their schedule on my account. I also think it would have been weird for me to be there when a topic of discussion was going to be the jingle street theater. I assumed they knew I was the one doing this but it doesn’t sound like they retained anything from what I showed them about a year ago, maybe longer. Now that I know they do not seem to think it is I behind the loudspeaker noise I think I’d prefer to keep it that way. To be present in that discussion without letting on that I’m the one doing it would feel weirdly sociopathic.
There is a spot a few minutes in to this call where you can hear someone announcing something over the terminal’s public address system. What’s amazing is that the sound was really loud but that through the payphone it is pretty well muzzled. The same sound hear through one of those awful kiosks would overwhelm the sound of the call.
