Well that was dumb. I did not listen back to the MP3 so I didn’t notice that it was warped in ways I cannot explain or excuse. Whatever the case I remembered that I had recorded the call both on the payphone and on my field recorder. I have always meant to see how that works in creating a weird stereo effect with the bleeding edge sound on top and echoes of the analog landline in the back. Or vice-versa. In this case the former dynamic made most sense but I could see it going either way. Having not done multitrack in a while I found it surprisingly easy to make a sound soup of it, with the field recorder take on track 1, the borked mp3 track on track 2, and a more or less clean version of the actual phone call on track 3.I’m not going to listen to this ever again but maybe you will. Hah.
