After escaping the Parc Lincoln at 166 West 75th Street I lived at 9 Cabrini in Upper Manhattan in 1991 and 1992. Traffic from the George Washington Bridge was extremely loud, but I sometimes stuck my head out the window and waved at drivers of the cars stuck in traffic at 2am. I have some righteous memories from my months in this room. I was here for the riots of July, 1992, though I barely remember them. When I realized riots were raging outside I called my mother to let her know I was safe. She had no idea there were riots afoot, either, though the turmoil was in national news at the time. I saw police officers on the George Washington Bridge swinging their batons, baseball-bat-style, warming up, waiting for the arrival of protestors who had threatened to take the bridge.
