product is a funnny word. productivity, too. productive activity. i mashed out lots of new stuff for the old magazines site, not much content but th eother site stuff i‘ve avoided. most time when i think about improving the usability and navigation i just decide to add more content, and fix the site later. the site‘s fine as is, just not very glamorous. and the kids today demand glamour.

2 nights ago, whilst taking off my shirt, my glasses got caught in the fabric and were ripped from my face, sent lfying to the floor, though they did not land terribly hard. the right lens popped out, which was very annoying, and i could not get the thing to snap back in. it could havemade me crrazy. but it did not. i just took out the crappy old glasses of yore and waited until today to get them fixed by professional frames&lens handlers. i went to the place whence i got the glasses a few months ago, and they fixed it at no charge. anyone else might have charged $4, as did Jack the shoe guy, he charged me $4 to replace a failed velcro strip on a shoe. old school shoe repair. old school glasses repair. i generally do not get things fixed. broken is broken. i can count on one hand the things i have returned to a retailer, while others i talk to return things seemingly 50% of the time after they buy them.

anyway, a lot of busy work today. the old magazine site is starting to work, work for me at least, and for some others. last week someone in australia requested a specific article he could not find anywhere else. i obliged, partly because i would have anyway but also because the subject of the story was my teacher‘s teacher‘s husband, hwo wielded summary influence over my teacher‘s teacher. the story, alas, was a bit of a dud, but there are others that are better.

i installed 2 new search engines for the site. i would like to have a series of search engines available, since they all work differently. a couple of years ago i downloaded a gigormous mass of law documeennts from a court of appeals, intending to use the humongo body of text as a source for content to compare various search engines. alas, the body of content is just too huge and unfamiliar to me, while the magazine stuff is manageable and i can tell in at least generalities where the rankings and results are accurate or not. so i‘ll add more search bots to that stuff, i guess. searchie bake-off
