Think I am way more exhausted than I realized from yesterday’s 12+ mile excursions. The bag I hauled on my shoulder was quite heavy compared to my usual freight. I like the bag but I might have outgrown it, as carrying a dslr and tablet and an extra lens is just not what it’s designed for.

A Costco run was needed, and taxes had to be mailed. Quarterly taxes are due in the mail today. I had a slight panic moment when I found that none of my vouchers were filled in. This made it look like I had not paid any taxes this year, even though I was bulletproof certain that I had. Alas, it turns out that for some reason I had 2 sets of vouchers printed, and the other set showed that I had noted payment remittance and check numbers for the year’s previous 2 payments. Not a major scare but enough to remind me of the possibility that one unexpected mega bill, a random penalty or fine, or something out of nowhere could sink me.

Scheduled some decent stuff for .NYC. Feels like some momentum is gathering. Had an amiable e-mail exchange with one of the lesser affiliate advertising companies I use. And an unexpected payment from another. I’ve been so accustomed to be treated like dirt by AdSense that getting an actual human response and interaction from a similar company is kind of jarring.

Guess I never sent the above paragraphs from yesterday.

The search for the new columbarium at Calvary ended with puzzlement. I know New Calvary far less well than Old. I was starting to think the new Columbarium did not really exist, as I had seen only a drawing of the structure on the cemetery web site. It was said to be at Laurel Hill Boulevard and 49th Street, an intersection I know well enough for its old school flower and wreath shop and tombstone foundry next door to the cemetery grounds.

The flower and wreath shop is notable to me for its old signage using an old telephone exchange name formatted phone number, with the STillwell exchange.

Present at this intersection is the cemetery office, which I have neve entered.

Long story short I couldn’t find the columbarium, and later learned that it is actually way over at Section 43, an area where I now remember seeing construction activity a few years ago. I thought the activity was related to the highway overpass.

So I’ll go find it another day. Probably not tomorrow as I intend to resume the public spaces inhabitations.

I spotted the grave of a 9/11 firefighter who perished that day. The other night I started listening to the Howard Stern Radio Show from that day. It was absolutely the best coverage of the events, coming from a source that would seem unlikely. Listening to it again it became clearer how smart and experienced a media player Stern really is. I’m not a Stern fan any more but I was for a while. I really appreciate the way they sound engineer that show.

Back at the ghetto coffeeshop. Nobody bothers me here. I like that. This feels like a place that would get robbed. Come to think of it I think I read that it did get robbed a couple of months ago.

Great time last night at home with an old friend. I announced I am on the austerity plan until further notice so steaks and beers were on him and we stayed away from paying overpriced bar rates. In no good mood for bars lately, for a lot of good reasons.

All kinds of tired from the past few days spent walking so far. A good kind of tired, though.
