I am not looking forward to doing combat with the landlord. He gave me a lease renewal which includes a 1% increase on a one year lease. There is a rent freeze in New York. Now I have to confront this Greek man, old enough to be my father, but age and such will have nothing to do with it. The encounter will be racial. I have to ask him if he thinks I am a stupid fucking whiteboy American and if my white Caucasian ignorance contributes to his taking advantage of me.
