This recording was made with binaural/3D mics, but unlike most such recordings there is no real advantage to listening with headphones. I did not move at all during the recording, so there is limited sense of the 3D experience. There are some evocative doors slamming off in the distance, and the howling of the wind is a nice touch.
I will probably not end up at this St. Joseph’s Mausoleum but I think I might buy a space at the mausoleum presently under construction nearby, on the other side of the parking lot. St. Michael’s is not a beautiful cemetery. Some of it is actually quite barren and spiky, while other areas are passable on æsthetic merits.
This part of Astoria is far from being a beautiful neighborhood, but things like that have a way of changing. I might not be around to appreciate what glorious urban sprawl consumes the surrounding area but whatever might change it is my hope that the future of this community will be appreciated by my adoring fans who flock by the thousands every year to see my columbarium niche.
