cheating on my .MOBI charter to only use the foldable keyboard and a
mobile device. not really cheating though because the keyboard quit
working and the phone is a piece of crap, so i’m using the netbook as
backup until suitable replacements can be procured. the contract on teh
current POS phone is up soon and i have my eye on the Samsung Galaxy Note,
with a new keyboard. the Samsung would be my first-ever non-QWERTY phone,
save for a short-lived flip phone i had after losing an early Treo. i
might still change my mind about that phone, though.
tired tired tired. no luck sleeping well. not eating right.
today i ventured out to the 181 to get a bound copy of “The Etude”
complete set from 1891. it smells musty and fills my sinuses with muck. i
might not be able to scan it without a facemask. seriously.
i hauled $105 in quarters and pennies to the bank today. i started the
process of unloading my buttloads of change a few weeks ago but got lazy
and stopped with the dailiy deposits of about $100. i got the feeling that
the tellers at the bank thought i was shady, or up to something. if i am
then it’s lost on me what scheme i’m trying to pull off. i just accumulate
things, and change is no exception, but now i try to decumulate.
i might be buying a new piano. it’s not clear at the moment what i might
be getting myself into as far as financing goes, or what the rest of this
year’s financial future holds for me, but i should easily pass the
credit-check. i tried these new pianos in December and was not mightily
impressed. it’s the newer generation of Hybrid Pianos, which are
combination “real” and digital. the action is claimed to be identical to a
concert grand, and it seemed to live up to that claim on my brief use of
it. but as a digital instrument i expected more bells and whistles. those
things are sometimse considered toys, but a few days spent using the organ
sound on my current Roland digital piano changed the way I thought of
Bach’s keyboard music, and for the better. but there is no organ sound on
the Yamaha Avant Grand. maybe it’s achievable through MIDI? i never really
warmed up to MIDI. i imagine that the action of the Avant Grand keyboard
is not conducive to an “attackless” organ sound. that would be the best
explanation for why that very basic sound included on virtually any
digital keyboard is not included on the Avant Grand.
