sack in the baddle. i am back with mobile keyboard. this time Verbatim brand, though it looks almost identical to the Freedom Pro keyboard of yore.

i type now into a Christmas-gift Nexus tablet.

the day kind of got away from me.

an IM from a friend asking about a mutual acquaintance who died sent me on a bit of a goosechase, searching for information on what happened but also just trying to remember who this person was. it turns out neither i nor she who IMed me knew this person at all, but our circle of friends seems entirely comprised of people who knew her well. apparently she fell in the shower and died. we don’t know any more details than that.

i almost fell in the shower this morning. it seems easy to have your eyes shut, water pouring over you, to turn around too fast or turn to a side too fast and lose balance. it’s one more thing to worry about.

a few nights ago my gf and i were coming home via car when the street i live on was swarmed with police cars and ambulances and fire trucks. i mean, it was a serious turnout for something going on in the house about 8 buildings down from the building i live in. i may be mistaken but it looked like the cops were raiding the same house where a stash of grenades and weapons was found 5 or 6 years ago. on that occasion i was coming home at 4am when i saw a mob of reporters and police peoples standing outside this  house. the police had found someone near JFK driving a van full of explosives and shoulder-fire missiles. he was nuts, and he lived right on my street. he and his brother lived in the same house but had not spoken for 30 years. his apartment was filled with guns and ammo. i don’t know if it is related but it seems strange that there was such conspicuous police activity at that same house again. i found no reportage about this activity in the media.

i have discovered Jim’s Journal. i don’t know how “Jim” does it but every sequence is deadpan zen mundanity. i hear my own unspeakably banal observations on life passing me by, but i can’t get them down as precisely open-ended as does Jim. he almost leaves the 4-frame sequences screaming portent, but then there is no portent. just end.
