Started watching Five Corners thinking since it was a 1980s film set in NYC it would have some payphones and phone booths. Oh, did it. But that’s not what drew me in. I started hitting screen captures when I recognized one Astoria location after another. Turns out a large part of the movie was filmed in Astoria Park and at 18th Street and 26th Avenue. No way to know if the first phone booth here was a prop but it would have been by the pool at Astoria Park, probably on 19th Street where there remains to this day the abandoned remains of a Verizon payphone, a standalone phone that would have replaced this enclosed Airlight model phone booth. The other booth seen in the last two screen captures would have been at the aforementioned intersection of 18th and 26th.

I am half way through this plodding film and will try to regroup tomorrow. It is pretty uneven on acting and script and everything except being set in Astoria. It seems to be inching toward a rape scene that I don’t think I want to watch. The film is actually set in the Bronx but filmed largely in Astoria. Was fun identifying the Astoria locations. Iiiiiiii’m going to sleep.
