the rule in sales is, say it three times, say it three times, say it three times and people will remember it. i think the rule applies to all things, all circumstances in the sales job of life. in poetry and pleading, in rhetoric and in ribaldary, repetition is key to sales, and all things are sales, i think. human communication is a continuous job of sales.

so that’s why i said hello thrice. so you would know, consciously or not, that i greet you with earnest sincerity.

i got lost in my old magazines project today, and yesterday. it’s not about content so much now as presentation, and learning the magnificence of the content management system at hand. it’s good fun, partly pointless, but it is fun to build a magazine site when so much content is available to me.

i got another couple of copies of 1901 issues this week. 1901 was an interesting year in the history of the magazine, i think. the covers became substantive and the paper on which the magazines was printed improved in quality. the pre-1900 issues that i have are printed on poor quality parchment, and mostly are falling apart. the content is mediocre, too. for those reasons i have no interest in filling out my collection with pre-1900 copies, but will probably get microfilm or digitized copies if i can.
