This is pretty close to home. A baby found in a trash can at a playground I know well. The playground and its adjacent schoolyard were the basis for this story I wrote in 1998, in which I wrongly assert that it was next to a Christian school. It is next to P.S. 112, where I took this picture and this picture a couple of years ago. I vote at PS 112. I guess it is some kind of NYPD or EMT protocol but the article linked to says they took the infant to Elmhurst Hospital. Mt. Sinai would have been much closer, at just 6 blocks away and a straight shot up Crescent Street, although I guess the ambulance would have had to go the wrong way up that one way street. Still, they could have gone over to 21st Street to get to Mt. Sinai on 30th Avenue. Well, none of that is to suggest it would have made a difference, because how would I know anyway.

A newborn baby found in a garbage pile at a Queens playground was rushed to the hospital in cardiac arrest Saturday, authorities said.
