I changed my mind about one key point in this phone call. The journalist posting the phone number I use was not as boss a thing as I thought. My hope was that people would call the number from the machines, and a couple of people did, but mostly the calls came from peoples’ home and office phones. The soundscape of the productions don’t quite work over the phone the way they are intended to work over the machines’ curbside loudspeakers. I’ve looked into ways that would whitelist calls to my broadcasts, so they could only come from the machines, but there appears to be no commercial provider that does this. I could set up a phone system but actually managing and configuring such a beast is way out of my league technically.
