I’ve been sorting and quasi-organizing my bottomless pit (or is it an ocean?) of audio I’ve recorded the last couple of years. It’s amazing how much there is to forget. I had been at the piano for several hours a day, recording music and peppering it with my commentary and such. It wasn’t awful but it had a lot of rough edges.

Anyway, among other more positive find was this strange encounter I forgot ever happened. In the area of 28th and 29th Streets between 39th and 40th Avenues I found myself gradually surrounded by an Ecuadorian parade, an event in which the paraders appeared to outnumber the parade-goers by a hefty percentage. It’s not as good a quality recording as you might expect from the device I was using (Sony PCM-D100) but it was spontaneous and I didn’t have time to mess with the gadget.

Love the sound, though:
