I got a laugh out of this. I’m at the office when I looked at my phone and saw a text message from an unknown number. It said “How is your life in New York?” I did not recognize the number but the message sounded like the kind of randomass message “someone out there” might randomly decide to send me.
I typed the unknown number into one of those Internet search thingies you’ve probably heard about. It returned several pages of links to websites for escort services. I kinda chuckled but next thing I knew the big boss came right over to my desk. I manged to close it just in time to prevent her from perhaps noticing that I just used a company computer to search for escort services. Or rather that it appeared I had just done that.
The phone number was just a spam thing. I tried calling it from a LinkNYC totem. It’s already been disconnected.
