I am walking around Long Island City, feeling like I want to hide or find some secret place, though I have no particular reason to feel that way. I had intended to go see a documentary in Brooklyn with some new friends but had to change my mind. I sent an email saying I would not be there.
I am by the Cube Smart storage place, which is kind of new. It seems strange to me that a storage place would have huge windows through which you can see the storage lockers. They are all closed most of the time of course but if somebody was moving sensitive materials they might not want to broadcast that to passersby.
On Northern Boulevard now, looking at yet another storage facility that I think is also new. There’s a taxi dispatch place here that has a very interesting LED sign. This place looks like something out of a Scorsese movie.
A woman passing by just asked me if I had any food for her to eat. I said sorry. She said have a nice night. I said you too. She said thank you. Now I am walking the same direction as her but she is quite a ways ahead of me already. I stopped to take video of that taxi dispatch sign.
The encroaching darkness of the setting sun seems to weigh more heavily on my psyche tonight then it usually would. The woman who asked me for food to eat just went into the 7-Eleven. I going to head back toward Astoria.
I had a crazy dream last night involving a friend from high school. He has made his living as a guitarist for a bunch of rock bands. In the dream he was playing with a band whose signature act came at the end of the concert when all the band members pointed video cameras at their anuses and broadcast the images onto dozens of Jumbotron screens that surrounded the audience. The crowd was surrounded by the band members anuses and they were going crazy for it. I woke up laughing from that very strange dream. I sent that friend who was in the dream an email but he has thus far ignored it. I kind of expected that.
Up at Steinway Street now, outside of the Western Beef, a place which rumor had it was supposed to be torn down and replaced with a luxury high rise but that has not come to pass. Another rumor that a furniture store on Steinway and 34th Avenue will be replaced by a hotel also has of yet not come to pass but that’s a more recent rumor. Approaching PC Richard, across the street from Formula One Auto Body and Detailing across from Distinctive Auto Collision across from a nightclub called LIT NYC. Steinway Billiards beckons, I played one of their video games a couple of days ago. I remember soon after I moved here there was a shooting at this place, which evidently used to be pretty ghetto but has improved its reputation. A lot of kids hang out there. One time I was playing one of the pinball machines, before they got rid of all of those, and these two girls started watching me play. And when I say girls I don’t mean even 16 or 17 I think these girls were like 12 and 13. I don’t know if they were being used as some kind of trap, but they were being way too flirtatious with me. I got the hell out of there, I think I still had two plays left on the pinball machine and I gestured to them that they could play those turns if they wanted.
