Whoopie, it’s the first new PC in years, excluding the giant tablet I use as a sheet music reader. I got a boss machine, refurbished, at a boss price. Only complaints are that the power cord is ridiculously short, and the chassis has a bunch of scuff marks all over it. But I expected something like scuff marks on a refurbished machine. I also had to do some sleuthing to get the secondary hard drive to wake up. It has two drives, a 1TB SSD that is the boot disk, and a 4TB secondary drive. The 4TB drive was not visible to Windows until I went into “Computer Management” and found it there, unallocated. So I allocated it, or whatever I did, and voila, now it’s there. Before figuring this out I called the company that sold me this machine to see if they had a solution. The dude sounded confused but promised I’d get a call back. So far that’s a no on the callback, but I guess I shouldn’t care about that. All told this new machine is what I was expecting. Fast as ass, and it will free up the old PC to be a dedicated Plex and broadcast station. Anyway, next few days are going to be all about getting this new machine organized, and seeing if my suspicions about the old computer being an impediment to productivity hold true, or if I am simply just lazy. It’s funny, I’d been thinking about finding a job doing something that did not require such dependency on a computer. Now here I go buying a new machine. Whoosh.
