I’d been working on it for a long time already but audio quality was too unpredictable and annoying. I finally went in for a cheap but well-reviewed noise-cancelling headset that does not look too weird to wear in public. I’ve been walking and talking, flâneur style, around the town for the past few days. One bit of audio sounded decent but so far that’s all I’ve listened to. My desire to record far exceeds my patience for editing and post-editing. That was not always the case. How many hours I burned processing Payphone Radio files collected from disparate VMBs and other audio capture concoctions. This time I’ll attempt to be better organized but that ambition never quite works for me.

I am eating a successful avocado. The 2 items of this species I purchased on Thursday were hard as bricks. Inedible. Unbiteable. Compostable. The way many people consume avocado is on toast. I don’t have patience for that. I still eat it as I would an apple or a pear, and the avocado always falls to pieces. Food should not make one angry but when food falls apart I rise to some level of anger, depending on the mess made. A shrimp salad wrap might be the messiest food I’ve attempted recently. One bite and my hand was covered with mayonnaise and whatnot, and several little shrimpy pieces fell to the table. Truly angrifying. Now I’m looking at the massacred remains of today’s avocado and suppressing my rage.

Someone on the subway this AM was blasting Mahalia Jackson and other gospel music. He was completely masked with large sunglasses and accompanied by a bunch of office furniture. Annoying in the moment but not as much as these two women who just appeared at this counter to talk extremely loudly.
