NEED. That’s a word that does not take repeated utterances to sound strange or obtuse. Need. Kneed. Knead. A beautiful woman showed me her tattoos the other night, and I’m trying to remember the exact wording of one of them. I think it said “YOU NEED WHAT YOU HAVE” but it might have been “YOU HAVE WHAT YOU NEED”. I think it was the first version, since I seem to remember the message sounding slightly distorted from what would be expected, and that would suit this woman’s personality, for as clearly as I think I understand it so far.
To say you need what you have is to say that you have enough, but then saying that you have what you need says the same, just a little more traditionally. But to say you need what you have suggests, I think, that you accumulated things needfully, meaning you did not really need them for utilitarian purposes but more for the sake of having them. By this I imply that needing is greeding.
