Today’s cups are unidentifiable. Like corpses without dental work, this batch of drinking conduits lacks the stream of numbers seen in this photo from yesterday’s cups. The number was the same across every cup in that batch, as far as I could tell. Nothing unique. No story. No anecdote, even, to be gleaned from the uniformity of the number. How will I refer to today’s cup should there be an incident? If I get into an argument or wrestling match with today’s paper cups how will I seek damages? Without the number spewed across its bottom I have little chance of finding a suable party.
