I have begun to photograph the wide variety of styles of signage announcing surveillance and recording equipment lurking above. Certainly such a collection of photos is nothing new.
Today’s quantity and quality of hovering electronic eyes will be considered quaintly unintrusive to future generations. Police drones and amateur surveillance equipment will form an information-gathering swarm, scooping up every possible shred of content from the public domain, then indexing, regurgitating, and monetizing said content in ways that will make today’s Streetview look like a toy.
Until then, I’ll enjoy checking out the styles of signage announcing that you are being recorded, documented, and possibly studied by self-appointed overseers of the public domain.
