There is something uniquely satisfying about a 311 complaint being addressed, and quickly. This was a seemingly minor but potentially dangerous bit of vandalism that I noticed a few weeks ago. At first I thought it was a mistake by the city’s signage people. I discovered instead that it was vandalism.
On November 8 I reported this vandalized 38th Avenue street sign using 311’s “Damaged Sign” category:

I did not pass by for a couple of weeks but when I did the sign had been fixed. By November 20, less than 2 weeks after my initial complaint, 38th Avenue had been restored to its proper identity at the corner of 30th Street.

This act of vandalism had to be pretty well planned by individuals with a very tall ladder or other means of elevation, as the sign is really quite high up off the ground.
