In which I open a random piece of music on my sheet music tablet and attempt to play it to a reasonable level of accuracy. Not perfect but nothing ever is. There is a Trio section of this piece that I did not get to. I just ran out of time. This take is the last of maybe 15. The first dozen of those attempts were useless. They recorded with overwhelming static caused by interference from the digital piano itself and from the power line. I may actually delete those takes. That’s extremely rare for this digital hoarder to delete anything, even garbage like those recordings.

Trying to get a simple, easy piece like this recorded reasonably well reminds me how painstaking it can be to pursue anything close to perfection in this realm. There is no perfection, of course, but there is a middle ground of compromise where a reasonable audience will not rebuke. This compromise even harder with video, or at least I think it is, because editing and piecing together segments is less fluid than with just audio. But maybe choppy video edits are an acceptable compromise in these modern times. If anything the obviousness of the edits brings a certain honesty to the finished piece.
