My first day at the job after 10 days away. That’s the longest I’ve been away from here in the 4 years since I started in January, 2022. I tried to get a few things done but mostly I wasted these past 10 days the way I feel my days are wasted at this dead-end, throwaway-your-days means of barely making a living. It’s been too cold for epic walks but I managed over 17,000 steps yesterday and made 10,000 steps every single day, with a 304 day unbroken streak continuing this day.
My favorite elevator was out of service so I had to enter through the Oculus. It seemed like an unusually large number of people were pouring in at 6:30am. I looked at many of them and wished I could ask what they expect will come of this precious gift of a day. What are you doing? Where are you going? Would you like to meet again later on this spot to see if the day’s rewards are meeting your expectations?
I reconnected with the horny girlfriend of 2024. I always feel obligated to specify/clarify that “horny girlfriend” is what I called her during our time together and she appreciated the nickname. I call her that now because, frankly, it 100% characterizes who she is and how our time together was spent. I don’t know where it might go this time around but I suggested we be fuckbuddies (without using that exact phrase) and she was not offended. She does, however, have health issues that have arisen in the past year or so. She has to go to a different kind of doctor almost every single day and physical therapy twice a week. She had been healthy her whole life (physically, at least) and I never would hear her talk about doctors or any kind of therapy.
I directed some interesting AI images. That’s my new term for it, though its usage in this manner is probably not new to me. I’m not creating images when they’ve been scraped, sometimes verbatim or exactly as-is from other sources. But I do aim to create something that would otherwise never have existed. I mean all creative work derives from previous creative work. The cantus firmus was the direct and as-is reuse of previous musical material to aid a composer in generating more material. But then came copyright and intellectual property, and who knows what that even means anymore.
In researching PRAY the director of the forthcoming documentary focuing on the legendary scratchiti artist encountered an almost fully-plagiarized discussion thread where all material, save for a few added flourishes were lifted directly from my website without any real attribution. It was as of the plagiarist took every step possible to assure that my creation of and association with the content he was presenting had no possible connection to mine. That’s what a lot of AI-generated content feels like. Take every possible step to obliterate and anonymize the original creators. The difference here is that the PRAY director was able to recognize the plagiarism and find its original creator, which is why I’d be appearing in the film and that plagiarist will not. That’s not likely to happen with AI. Images I make, retrained and transformed from the works of others, end up unrecognizably connected to their sources.
I gotta go.
Sometimes the CSS breaks on these blog pages and fucks the layout up completely. Sometimes it doesn’t. I can’t recreate it reliably enough to give any more help than that. Sorry!
Anyway, hope all is well over here! Glad to see you still maintaining a presence somewhere.
Yeah I’d been seeing that too. No idea what or why but I just optimized the database and that possibly fixed things, as I reloaded a broken page that now remders normally. If that’s not the fix it’s probably a plugin. Happy to hear from you!
