I am testing out a replacement keyboard, Logitech K380, as the previous rig was nearing unusability. This purchase and the process in which it occurred was needlessly time-consuming. I decided to give the Karrot app a try, once again in the futile and naive belief that something like this will make it possible to make new friends or acquaintances in the neighborhood. Unlike the BUY NOTHING group where no money is transacted Karrot is a selling platform. For $20 I got a good-as-new keyboard, and that’s not a bad price, but I could as easily have gone other routes. The woman who sold it to me was at least pleasant, even amiable. But I’ll never see her again. This time around I had no expectation whatsoever that that would occur.
I am nearing the end of five days away from the workplace. It feels like I’ve been away for a month. Sunday did not go well, with the sirens and flashing lights blasting off and no one confirming that it was just a mixup and that we were not being evacuated. Nobody even cared. We have an evacuation plan but I don’t think it’s ever been rehearsed.
Anyway, the new keyboard works well so I can leave a positive review. Good for me.
So just what makes this keyboard so different from the others? I noticed the description mentioned it meshes with 3 devices. What’s in this for you?
It’s just a good quality build. I’ve used probably 2-dozen of these kind of keyboards and they all crap out sooner rather than later. One of them the 1 key started giving me nothing but exclamation points after just a few weeks os use. Others the keys fall off. That happened with the last K380 but that was after years of use and abuse and not really treating the instrument very kindly. The worst kinds of these are the foldable ones that save space but all the moving parts make for a slow-mo falling-apart inevitability. I’m talking specifically about mobile Bluetooth keyboards for use with smart phones and tablets. WiFi and wireless keyboards for use on PC or laptops are a whole other breed of bullshit.
And by the way, I’m still the biggest fan and house guest sitting beside your sill watching traffic and the guy across the street come out and smoke all to the serenade of piano.
Glad to hear it. The dream of a truly 24/7 set-and-forget Twitch.TV streaming channel remains elusive but I should get away with it by just restarting the stream every hour or so, just need to make the restart seamless.
