Seems the price of everything increased all on the very same day. 6-pack of Florida Man IPA went from $16 to $18. A small (very small) sandiwch I get at the enormous store on 21st Street went from $4.99 to $5.99. I always thought $4.99 was a little too cheap but still… Then I discovered that there appears to no haircut in Astoria cheaper than $30. Not so long ago I’d pay $20 at most, with tip.

Other prices increased as well but I can’t remember offhand what they were. All on the same day.

I saw her on the train today. It had been almost a week, since I took a couple of days off. She looked a little more gruff than usual today. There was flitty eye contact. Flitty? Is that even a word. To distinguish from flirty, which it definitely was not. She remembered me, that much was obvious. She wore loose denim jeans and a CALIFORNIA t-shirt with an image from Los Angeles. I noticed she had triangular-shaped tattoos on each arm. I tried not to stare but I couldn’t help it. When it’s appropriate and not creeper-seeming I will try and sit right next to her. I wonder what she is looking at or reading on her phone. I read from a print book I found at a Little Free Library. It’s a clever and well-written account of an AI agent controlling a shopping mall, determining the value of each customer, and guiding them toward potential purchases or spends on entertainment. It is, I suppose, timely, but I think I may already have gotten the point.

I saw an Amazon delivery guy delivering a package at about 5:30am today. I know they do overnight delivery now because I unwittingly requested it, and paid for that mistake being woken by the howling doorbell at about 4:00 or 4:15am one otherwise well-slept night. That was a few weeks ago. There were 2 packages at my door today that may have been left in the overnight hours but I don’t know. You’d think they would be more circumspect about blasting doorbells and buzzers at those hours but maybe they only do that if you specify that you want 4AM delivery, as I seem to have done by mistake.
